★★★★
Elizabethan England was an incredibly interesting and strange time.
Everything from the clothes to the food to even the structure of the houses was different – B>very different.
There were two small bedrooms in the rear of the house where you shared a bed with your sisters.
I can’t imagine doing that!
The food, in particular, stood out to me.
Meats were stewed with fruits, making them sweet and savory at the same time.
At first, I couldn’t believe that that would taste good…but then I realized that we still do some of that today.
I make a mean apricot pork tenderloin and I’ve definitely made a few stews using apples in it.
The weirdest thing that happened in this book –
Nobody drank water. Cider made from apples and ale were more popular.
Wild, right?
