Life at Alice’s school is…bland. Grey walls, grey floors, grey food, grey people. And yet, when she steps outside, she finds color.

We get to visit a few old friends and see the beauty of a well-loved garden – and maybe a pinch or two of magic along the way.
Ahhh. This was such a fun twist on the classic tale.
I must confess…I love the *idea* of Alice in Wonderland, but every time I try to read the book, it just doesn’t click for me.
So, I was curious how this prequel picture book would land and WOW let me just say, I adored it.
The story had plenty of homages to the source material but still felt like an original piece. It was a lot of fun to see how a bit of love for one’s garden was enough to kickstart the magic.
Also, the art was really nice to look at. Great use of color to really illustrate what Alice felt while she was trapped in her boarding school.
All in all, a fabulous read!
