They were traveling to a land where colonies of people like them were able to settle in homes and worship the way they wanted.
Colonial America was certainly an interesting time!
This lovely little book describes what life was like when America was first settled.
It starts with why the colonials left England and the typical pathway that someone would take to arrive in America.
From there, your family would need to find somewhere to live.
Your father and uncle scouted to find a good place to set up camp.
This book goes into detail what life would be like for the colonials.
December was cold that year….Everything had to be made from scratch.
From building a house to cooking for the family – everything was completely different!
All in all, this was a great little peek into what Colonial America was like.
This feels like it would be a great educational tool for teaching about the early life of America.
It gave wonderful Little House on the Prairie vibes – with the descriptions of self-sufficiency and the explanations of life.
It was so much fun!
