You can own your strength. You can celebrate it. You can play like a girl.
This sweet little book goes through all the life lessons that Kate T. Parker, photographer and soccer enthusiast, has learned over the years.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to play soccer.
The book stars with the Number 1 Rule – Keep your head up.
From there, the book works its way through playing to your strengths, celebrating your body, making every minute count.
Each chapter features a series of photos and quotes from the girls that fit the theme.
From teamwork to cooperation to following the rules, these girls pack in the advice.
Each chapter is opened with a quick blurb from the author that explains her perspective on the theme.
I am now a mother of two fierce soccer-playing girls (both of whom you’ll see celebrated in these pages), and I’ve coached countless others.
All in all, I quite liked this one.
It has lots of lovely photographs that really encapsulates the joys of playing soccer as a child.
I loved how Kate was able to catch so many expressions and all of the photos had so much personality.
It brought me back to so many childhood memories of playing in the field.
I also loved the photos of the professional soccer players scattered in with the younger girls.
I do wish the connecting chapters were longer and included a bit more stories from the author’s life but overall it was a fun book!
A huge thank you to Workman Publishing and Kate Parker for sending me a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
