A Walk in the Forest ~ Cathy Goldberg Fishman

description

“A walk in the forest. What trees do we see? 1 giant Sequoia.”

This is a lovely little counting book that highlights different iconic trees from across the globe.

Each two page spread contains a number, a tree type and a few other words to round out the script. There were quirky illustrations that show our main character in each country near the trees.

For example, on:

“7 wet Rubber trees.”

We see the seven trees but also all sorts of different flora and fauna. Our main character shares an umbrella with another girl while they are surrounded rainforest-y animals like toucans, parrots, frogs, monkeys, and more.

I liked the illustration style to this book – it’s got that paper-cut-out vibe to it and it’s quite enjoyable to see all the different trees.

On the back of the book, we learn about which countries were being represented and the various arbor/plant days that they celebrate.

Overall, this one ended up being so cute!
