“As I watch you prance around, I can’t help but smile. You remind me of a creature from the woods, my child.”
This sweet board book is written from the perspective of a parent as they reflect lovingly in all the ways their child is as wild and free as the creatures who live in the wood.
Often the first part of the rhyme will talk about a quality that the child shares with a forest animal, then expands upon the child’s behavior.
“You have a brown bear’s stomping feet when it wakes up to play. You march around without a care and you could tromp all day.”
The art in this one is rather charming – each two-page spread shows a different baby animal and their parent.
I loved the bright eyes and fun expressions on the creatures’ faces. And the scenery was so well-done too!
Overall, this was a really sweet nature book and one that I’m excited to read again and again to my own little one.
