Sleepy Savanna ~ Stephen R. Swinburne

description

“When little cheetah falls asleep, she runs her tiny motor, purring soft as a prayer.”

Familius Publishing is really knocking these sleep books out of the park! I really enjoyed this board book all about how different animals sleep in the savanna.

We see a little elephant guarded by his herd, a baby ostrich cuddled with her nestmates, and even a young hippo sleeping on the back of her mama.

I felt like I was learning quite a bit – seriously! I had no idea that baby hippos actually sleep on their mother’s backs! Wild!

And I also liked the way this book was structured. It feels like we are saying goodnight to each animal before circling back to you (the reader) who gets a goodnight from the stars.

“When you fall asleep, the stars above the Serengeti whisper…”

Overall, I am really happy with this one! Short but sweet and definitely sleepy in all the right ways.

With thanks to the author and Familius Publishing for sending a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
